Pinup December – MisRed Delicious
Reowwwwww! I’m so excited to have MisRed Delicious here on Pinup December. She is such a massive contributor to the New Zealand burlesque industry and does an amazing job of producing the New Zealand Burlesque Festival; one of the most glittering events on our burlesque calendar.
What MisRed Delicious is most proud of this year … (in her own words) “This year has been one full of challenges for me as I juggled teaching, producing and performing. I have three very proud moments which relate to each of these burlesque endeavours.
Firstly: two of my students competing at the Australian Burlesque Festival Baby Bombshells competition in June and one of them going to the New York Burlesque Festival to perform in September. I could not have been more of a proud burlesque mama than I am of these ladies. They have gone from strength to strength in such a short time and I can’t wait to see what they get up to in 2015.
For producing, this year’s NZ Burlesque Festival really felt like a knock-out and I am not criticising my efforts as much as I have in the past. It was just such a wonderful celebration of community and was such a pleasure to produce for you guys!
Lastly and probably one of the biggest thrills for me this year … performing in the New Orleans Burlesque Festival Queen’s Ball. This has been one of my performance goals since I started burlesque and it meant the world to me. It was such a fantastic experience, with amazing people and a stunning location. My international performance efforts were also recognised by the community this year with the International Recognition award at the Golden Garters and that made my heart swell. I am so humbled that the community has recognised me in this way.”
MisRed’s Christmas memories … “Christmas memories for me involved BBQ’s with my family, usually starting with a Champagne Xmas BBQ, and then a late lunch BBQ with not just my immediate family, but extended family and those friends I’ve chosen to become my family. Good company, good sun, good food, and a whole lot of wine! Such great memories with more to be made this year!”
MisRed’s charity of choice … is … “Sweet Louise here in Palmy. They work with women who have breast cancer and their families.”
